For the past 60 years the 17 members of the SWR Big Band have thrilled audiences throughout Europe with a hugely varied repertoire and consistently excellent quality of music. It is indisputable that they are one of the best big bands in the world. Since 2002, they have received four Grammy nominations, which is credited to the outstanding soloists of the band, the extraordinary interplay of the musicians and great arrangements of new and classic songs alike. Their success that is also supported by the collaborations with international jazz and world music greats like Pat Metheny, Roy Hargrove, Roberta Gambarini, Sammy Nestico, and Paula Morelenbaum.

Together these two artistic forces will deliver a show that will swing harder and capture more shades of the blues than one could ever imagine. It will surely be a performance that guitar aficionados and jazz lovers alike will not want to miss.

Brothers Brown

“Dusty Road”

Debut album from legendary Grammy Award winning super group

“Dusty Road” the debut album from the new powerhouse group, Brothers Brown, introduces listeners to a vibrant new sound in American Root music. The twelve track album- showcasing the masterful combination of songwriting and musicianship- brings to mind similar artists, The Band and Creedance Clearwater, in their ability to create timelessness in atmosphere buoyed by their bottomless emotional depth.

The Brothers Brown is fronted by two musicians forever entwined by the name Paul Brown. One, a double Grammy winning producer, guitarist, singer and songwriter, hails from Los Angeles, while the other, a Grammy nominated producer, keyboardist and songwriter, is based in Nashville. The band is completed by a virtuosic rhythm section that also calls Nashville home: bassist David Santos, who has worked amongst icons such as, Billy Joel, Elton John, John Fogerty and many others and drummer Peter Young, who has toured with  Loretta Lynn and Burrito Brothers. Santos and Young are also noted producers that have credits linking them to an array of different artists.

From a group that had never even been in the same room together before the album was recorded, the seasoned sounds they create makes Dusty Road a unique and thrilling experience. With blended talents in almost every genre, including Americana, Jazz, Rock, Blues and R&B, this album has the effortlessness and musical depth that can excite any fan of music. From the opening bursts of Latin percussion, the gentle pealing and precise licks of Brown’s guitar, to his big toned voice, this blend of unique four part harmonies makes Dusty Road an album that will not be forgotten

Nineteen-time GRAMMY NOMINEE, four-time GRAMMY WINNER and all-time guitar great, Larry Carlton established himself from his first recording, A Little Help From My Friends. His studio credits include musicians and groups like Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, Michael Jackson, Sammy Davis Jr., Herb Alpert, Quincy Jones, Bobby Bland, Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and literally dozens of others. He went on to perform with the Crusaders and then with the multi platinum jazz super group Fourplay. With 30 albums to his credit and having performed on over 100 albums that have gone Gold or Platinum, Larry Carlton has set a standard for artistry that spans three decades.

In 2008 Larry Carlton received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Guitar Player magazine at the historical Ryman Auditorium and was presented the “Titan of Tone” award from Premier Guitar Magazine at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Larry also picked up 2 more Grammy nominations in 2009 and one in 2010 bringing his career total to 19 nominations with 4 Grammy wins his most recent “Best Pop Instrumental Album” for “Take Your Pick”.

Championed in his homeland as the most renowned guitarist in all of Asia, Tak Matsumoto is equally revered as chief songwriter, GRAMMY WINNING guitarist and producer of the Japanese rock band, B’z. Counting a legacy of 12 albums, B’z truly means big business, having sold a combined 80 million units in Japan alone, not surprisingly making them Japan’s best-selling band in history. 2002, in particular, served as a landmark year for Tak with the Japanese release of his much heralded instrumental albums, Hana and “Dragon From The West”. Hana, most noticeably, garnered rave reviews, its powerfully flowing melodies evocative of scenic horizons of the Orient. The album’s bonus track, “Trinity,” finds Tak stretching the boundaries of “rock” guitar, blending different tastes in the melodies while retaining the same distinctive Japanese spirit. Instrumental Guitar (Electric (Heavy) / Rock/World). In 1999 he was given his own Signature Model Les Paul by Gibson and was added to Gibson’s signature artist club. He is the only guitarist from Asia to be added to the club.
